The reformer is the most commonly used piece of Pilates equipment.  It offers resistance based exercise consisting of a moving platform or carriage with springs, ropes and pulleys.  The carriage slides against resistance provided by a variable number of springs and pulleys.

A multitude of exercises can be performed on such and the resistance load can be modified by engaging or disengaging springs to suit all ranges of strength and ability.

Combination Electric / Wunda Chair (Gratz)

The Electric Chair  has the strongest springs in the Pilates studio and provides very specific support for exact alignment. It is primarily used to strengthen the legs, hips and the supporting muscles that surround them, and is a fantastic tool for beginners and advanced students alike.

The Wunda Chair is basically a box with one side that can be pressed down against the resistance of springs, like a large pedal.
